It will probably look like a clean sine wave but there is a control loop in the voltage regulator that adjusts the field voltage to generate the correct output voltage. That loop has some instability under zero load, that's what it sounds like to me anyway. I turned on the air conditioner and the flickering reduced, so it is low load causing it. But this is after an electronic LED driver which should regulate out the AC line issues I would thing.
