There are several levels of testers. Do you want just a basic wiremap tester that finds shorts, opens and miswires? Something a little more advanced that maybe includes wire length, distance to fault, etc. Or a full blown qualifier that will test for crosstalk, return loss, etc. and certify to Cat 5/6/7 specs? Usually the last category requires periodic calibration and can produce reports that you submit to a customer proving the wiring meets the required specs.
I've got a Fluke MicroScanner which is kind of an advanced wiremap tester. It tests all 8 wires plus shield, and can display wire length and distance to fault. It is definitely not a cable qualifier. -----Original Message----- From: AF <af-boun...@af.afmug.com> On Behalf Of Matt Sent: Monday, May 18, 2020 10:00 AM To: af@af.afmug.com Subject: [AFMUG] Shielded Cat-5 Tester What is everyone using for a durable field cat-5 tester? -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com -- AF mailing list AF@af.afmug.com http://af.afmug.com/mailman/listinfo/af_af.afmug.com
