Same here, although grocery stores are still getting a lot of traffic and are of course not shut down. I checked yesterday with the local Ace HW and they will still be open, although somewhat reduced hours, and with a system to keep people from bunching up at the checkout.
I was kind of obsessing about the debacle with testing and the fact that officials are not even trying any more to test anyone without symptoms. But one of the doctors on TV kind of blurted out the real reason yesterday, it’s too late to do like Singapore and Hong Kong, that’s a containment strategy. We blew our chance to do that many weeks ago. Now it’s a suppression strategy. No amount of testing at this point would allow you to trace all the contacts of a person who tests positive and quarantine them. We have to assume anyone could be infected and stay away from each other, hope the hospitals don’t get overwhelmed, and try to obtain more PPE so doctors and nurses don’t all get it. Cuomo was talking about needing a different kind of test, one that identifies who has antibodies indicating they had it and recovered and may have immunity. I think its irresponsible, she wants some more peanut butter, cause the 3 open jars are apparently no good. I assume this type of conversation is common. We spread this through. Walmart fear shopping and made it an actual pandemic. I cant see any way this doesnt progress to more restrictions. Cuomo, who's handling New York state like a boss was showing images of the fools. Like dad saying "don't make me get the belt" we all know the belts coming. People are dumb. American people are their kings.
