Amtrak really doesn't like the private cars and they have tried making
regulations so strict in the past that the private car owners couldn't
possibly comply, but enough of them are well connected enough that the
regulations and fees were relaxed. For instance, on this ride I was with a
cousin of President bush and a guy who was interim deputy Sec. of Commerce
for a period last year.
