The upper limits of fiber bandwidth have not yet been measured. Labs report
new speed/BW records every so often. So I do believe fiber is future proof.
30 years? Actuarial tables tell me not to worry so much...
Once the fiber is in, it does not wear out. Does not need to be upgraded.
Even if competition comes you will still be able to deliver the best, most
reliable connection. And if you are out of debt you can lower the price to be
competitive.
RF BW is scarce. They are not making any more of it. Mobility has antenna
gain, propagation and pattern issues above 2 GHz. LEO satellite antennas will
still get snow on them. I imagine that they may be affected by thunderstorms
too. Plus, they are not going to give this service away, I seriously doubt
they will be a price leader in the category.
People do not like antennas on their roof.
People do not like to pay for additional data usage.
I believe fiber is like the city water line. You can still get deliveries of
bottled water, beer, wine and whisky (well maybe not the latter in Utah...).
But you will still take your shower with city water.
