My mom always got the ones in the glass jar. I think the brand was Derby.
Not at all authentic but strangely tasty, in the same way as Vienna sausage
and candy corn. Apparently discontinued around 10 years ago. BTW, add to
your list of things to eat that may disgust the rest of your family - Aunt
Nellie's brand sweet and sour red cabbage in a jar. In our pantry it's on
the shelf next to Read brand canned german potato salad and 4 bean salad
(they also make 3 bean salad if you don't like garbanzos). Open up some of
those and a can of Vienna sausage, and you have a prepper feast. Did I
mention King Oscar sardines?

Taste test. Nalley won.
Better corn flavor in the wrapper.
Hormel's had a slight slimy mouth feel.
Filling was pretty much the same in both.

Both sauces were good. Hormel had more sauce which was good. I would eat
either if hungry. Nally over Hormel.

Jaime's wife's over them all.

My wife makes a good homemade tamale but cannot compare to Jaime's wife.
She will not eat these canned tamales. I have one son that will.

Just like spam and vienna sausages, there are lots of options for me that
others pass up. Pickeled beets, sauerkraut, fruit cake, mince meat,
gooseberry and rhubarb pie.

I ate a cricket yesterday. Mayra the lady that actually makes all our PCB
products brought in a packet of crickets. I presume they were deep fried.
Had the texture of a cheese puff and the taste of very salty sun flower
seeds. She did not want to try one with me. She finally did. In a
starvation situation those would be a good snack.
