Yes, the mentioned guide is used for combining multiple user lists. As for your 
concern if there's a way to combine any kind of audiences not only user_list, 
but also customer_interest(affinity, in-market), custom audiences...etc, I'm 
afraid that this does not appear to be supported in the API.

We can raise a feature request for this; but before raising such request, could 
you share to us your use case and how this feature impacts your business?
