Hello,

Using a test developer token should not be an issue if you are making calls 
against a test account. With regards to the error you are receiving, the issue 
appears to be related to the Java client library. I suggest you reach out to 
the client library owners as they will be better equipped to assist you on this 
matter. You can open your concern on the GitHub Issue tracker here.
