Thank you for reaching out. With regards to your concern, the criterion applied 
to the parent will not automatically be applied to the child ad group as well, 
even when they are included in the parent category. The criteria needs to be 
applied at the specific level. If you are looking to pull data using the 
Criteria Performance Report on child accounts, you will need to apply the 
criteria at the same level. You could refer to the targeting type guide for the 
basic properties for each target type. Also, you might find this guide useful 
for audience targeting settings via API. Let us know if you have any additional 
concerns.
