So after a few hours of tinkering I have been able to narrow this issue down to just affecting the accounts I create since this issue was created. Something in the way the UI creates the accounts is breaking. After a 3 hour consultation with my co-workers we realized the accounts that _worked_ and didn't have any issues were marked as removed and had a red X next their names.
Accounts that are marked as removed will work just fine for me; however, any account that's marked as active (or that has a green dot) will not work and WILL return the error described by pretty much everyone here. If I create an account via the API, the account will be marked as removed, but it will work without giving the error described above. I hope this helps!
