Hi Gawon, There is currently no such feature available in the AdWords API. If you wish to avoid creating similar ad group criterion that would result to the original ad group criterion being updated, then you may implement a checker at your end by first retrieving the criterion belonging to your ad group using the AdGroupCriterionService.get <https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201705/AdGroupCriterionService#get> to double check.
