We are interested to run some AdWords groups with a flexible strategy, namely ENHANCED_CPC. At the same time, we want to avoid editing by hand the bids for each keyword. We have a JavaScript snippet that runs inside AdWords / Block Operations that does the dirty work. Unfortunately, this script fails with groups that are set to ENHANCED_CPC because the Javascript call setMaxCpc() fails silently. This is not according to the docs - in the docs, it is clearly stated that if the parent campaing is set to MANUAL, setMaxCpc() *must* work. In our situation we have this Parent Campaign: MANUAL AdGroup: ENHANCED_CPC result: setMaxCpc() This is a very poor - not to mention undocumented - decision by the tech team at AdWords. They should allow out business logic to work alongside ENHANCED_CPC / group level. What can we do in this situation? It is possible to set the bidding type at the group level to "MANUAL" just before calling setMaxCpc() then revert back to ENHANCED_CPC? Any suggestion is welcome.
