Hi Guys, We setup OAuth 2.0 for our API access a couple months back, and you should not need to link the client account to your MCC account. That being said, we had a login for the client account that we were able to use to grant the API access when prompted by OAuth.
The way OAuth works is that it prompts the client running the API for permission to access the client account the first time the API tries to access a given client's account, so as long as you have a valid login to the account that you're trying to access that has the proper access levels, you should be OK and not need to link the accounts. For example, the way our OAuth would work for a new client would be as follows (assuming that we have a login to access the client's account) : 1.) OAuth prompts for permission to access the account 2.) We log in with the UN/PW that we have to access the client account, which then gives our API an OAuth token (terminology may be wrong here) to access the account going forward Hope this helps. I'm an Analyst/Project Manager with a Comp Sci background, but wasn't the person who wrote the API application that we use, but I was involved with debugging the initial setup and issues that we had with OAuth and I also use our API application frequently.
