The oldest date in my database is in August 2002, which was retrieved less than a year ago. I recall that with the introduction of 'new' reports in 2009 all size limits were lifted. You would either get a report withing 5 minutes or an error after 5 minutes. The error is, very confusing, RESPONSE_SIZE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED. Actually I get that error much sooner, after 2-3 minutes, and sometimes within a minute. When that happens, my code just cuts the period in half and then requests for the first and second sub-period. When another RESPONSE_SIZE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED occurs that period is cut in half again etc. I tried to reconstruct how big a report can be, but got nowhere. It really seems to depend on the time required to calculate the report, not on the actual size. To get an idea, I noticed that including the field ConversionTypeName will get you RESPONSE_SIZE_LIMIT much sooner: without that field reports are allowed to be at least twice as big without getting into problems.
