Hi, I'm not happy with how the v201109 sunset was communicated. My production integration to adwords is not upgraded and is not working. at all. Furthermore, because of the hurricane, I'm not able to update my system. This is not okay.
These are the specific issues 1) There are too many trivial communications, which obscure important things. I am inundated with emails from the api blog about AdMob or DFA updates, neither of which I use. While it is true there are 2 emails from the api blog "mentioning" the sunset (sent on June 29th and Oct 19th), both mentions are placed underneath less important things. For the first mail, the mention was a footnote and I had already stopped reading. The second mail did not appear relevant to my business and I never opened it. Please: Send a separate message for each critical update, using the subject line to indicate the contents of the message. things that cause outages and monetary loss for your customers are a different class of importance than sdk updates. If my account has been making requests on a deprecated api within a month of the sunset, feel free to email blast my account (using the same distro that disapproved ad notifications go to) and/or notify my account rep. 2) I realize the sunset is posted on the api homepage. however, i only visit that page when I'm forced to do an upgrade, so it's a catch-22. 3) There was a hurricane yesterday and my office does not have power. I'm unable to update my api version until my office gets power and I am able to travel to it. Could the sunset be pushed back a few weeks while new york city gets its situation under control? I'm sure others in the area are also affected by this. 4) This is a tangent, but I'm using the most basic and trivial parts of the api (campaign service to turn campaigns on and off). Couldn't the backend attempt to reroute these requests to the new version, so that your customers are only bothered when there is a major conceptual change to the api? -- =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ Also find us on our blog and discussion group: http://adwordsapi.blogspot.com http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "AdWords API Forum" group.
