I implemented the Google Ads API because Conversion Tracking based in cookies / JS is going to end in the near future. I did this with all the major ad platforms.
The problem with Google is that the Google Ads API does not behave the same as the Google Ads Conversion Tag. The biggest disadvantage that I am seeing is the need to wait from 4-6 hours to upload offline conversions. Other ad platforms allow to send CLICK IDs the moment they are generated. I don't understand why Google Ads API can't process CLICK IDs in real time and the Google Ads Conversion Tag can. This is a clear disadvantage between using the API vs the JS tag.
