Hi Simon, Since this appears to be a problem with the ruby code, and not the API, the best course of action would be to submit an issue to the Google Code site. I see that you (or someone else) already has done so: http://code.google.com/p/adwords-api-ruby-samples/issues/detail?id=1. I'll bring this to the attention of the project owners and you should monitor the issue for responses.
