TSM for VM Renames

If I rename a VM and its TSM for VM filespace, eg, \VMFULL-box   to  
\VMFULL-boxtest, will the backups still be valid?  Or is information stored in 
the vmctl storage pool in such a way that a rename results in data that is no 
longer valid?
