Being a university, we have lots of diverse computer users, with many languages.
We get the following (ANE4042E) error messages, by the thousands, every day from dozens of systems, due to users with different locale values. 3/3/2013 12:22:20 PM ANE4042E (Session: 54268, Node: BBPRODAPP3.VCU.EDU<http://bbprodapp3.vcu.edu/>) Object name '/bbprodlmsbkup/blackboard/content/vi/bb_bb60/courses/1/PHAR-724-001-2006Spring/gradebook/gb_export-law1.csv' contains one or more unrecognized characters and is not valid. While we are aware of the suggested workaround ( http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21303818), I have a question/concern from one server owner. They ask, "*If we implement this, how does this effect the file when someone wants to restore one of these files that was backed up with a different language locale/set*" ?
