I've been doing some playing with the new v6.4 client for Windows x64 and thought I'd offer this up for debate. I've been looking at the relative sizes of the unpacked installation media for recent TSM client versions. v5.5 - 146 Mb v6.2 - 424 Mb v6.3 - 526 Mb v6.4 - 680 Mb
Now we rely on bootable CD images for performing bare-metal recoveries of our TSM clients using ASR restores from a WinPE environment. With v6.2.2 and v6.3 this process involved copying all the Windows installation files to a folder prior to imaging it to CD. The problem with v6.4 is that the client now exceeds the 640Mb size of a CD. I'd like to trim down the client somewhat so it again fits within the confines of a bootable CD. Does anyone know if the jvm70001 folder (for it seems to be this that is responsible for most of the 'flabbiness' in the new client) is required for the WinPE recovery process? Does anyone have any other suggestions for creating a 'lite' version of the client? Regards Neil Schofield Technical Leader Yorkshire Water ---------------------------------------- Spotted a leak?
