Ten or more years ago, there might have been some need to know what tapes might be involved in an operation; but with advancing technology, the need is largely nonexistent (VTL, etc.). With enterprise level equipment, humans should not have to know what media might be called for. Keep in mind as well that the media that data is physically present on can change by the time you initiate the operation - and can even change *during* the operation.
