Further to that (this is of course assuming that the volumes you want are not in the library, as opposed to something else going on).
Once you've checked in the needed volumes, do a "q vol [volumename] format=detailed" for each volume and check that the Access is set to READWRITE. Because you tried to access the volumes but they weren't in the library, it's possible that TSM will have changed their Access to UNAVAILABLE.
