Hello, Answer to Q 2:
I manage the tape movement manually without DRM. I write scripts that: 1. update the access of the copy pools volumes once at 2 weeks to offsite and the location is "drp" (you can wrte there wathever you like) and make a list of that volumes. 2. other scripts check the empty offsite volumes that you have to bring back. 3. I also make database volumes Then we checkout all the volumes need to go out and checkin the volumes that came back from drp you have to update the status of this volumes to readw. Currently we dont; have a DR server and I know that TSM can function smoothly with out DRM facility. Can someone share me your views on the below queries: 1) How TSM is going to react when the DRM license is unplugged? will it just stop updating the DRMEDIA table with the tape movement information or is their any other table which will not be updated? And what is the risk involved in unplugging it from an existing production server. 2) I am aware that I need to manage the tape movement with manual script after DRM is switched off. Has someone tried it before? Can you share your experience? 3) Does IBM provide any script to handle tape movement where DRM is not used. Regards, Rajesh
