However we had a customer with a large Exchange infrastructure, Lan free and shared traffic that had repeated backup corruptions. The appropriate people dug down deep and it was determined that the lack of separation was the cause. I was not personally involved in the original corruption, so I'm not sure exactly what the symptoms were: I was involved in a huge long running emergency process to get the 3 of 4 cluster upgraded with extra HBAs, and I have believed in tape and disk separation like a convert ever since.
