Another view: When running MacOS X, you can share folders between OSX and a VMware guest running Windows. MacOS X can read NTFS, but and cannot write it. TSM (Mac) used to automatically backup NTFS, even though it could not restore it (because MacOS X could not write NTFS). TSM was changed to no longer backup NTFS. However, think about this - if you backup NTFS from a MacOS client (because it is more convenient than running yet another TSM client in the Windows guest VM), if you could restore that NTFS backup via a Windows TSM client, that would be useful. But the lack of cross-platform between OSX and WNT prevents this. This is a case where it would actually make sense (I think).
