No, to install software you need root user. At least under AIX I am using root and than create link from Oracle home lib directory to TDP library. It is enough to use TDP for Oracle from Oracle home owner, when backups are running.

Hi list, When installing TDP for Oracle on a Solaris machine, there are some steps that require the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable configuration pointing to $ORACLE_HOME/lib directory.....I was installing using the root user, but, for the root user, the ORACLE_HOME variable is empty.....should I use the Oracle user to install TDP ??
