Every time we snapshot a VM, we have the option of doing the entire farm or just a single vm. When we do a single VM, we are getting the entire machine, not just what changed. We use the B/A client to get the individual file level changes. If we dump the entire farm, we get snapshots for every machine in the VM farm and the snapshots are the entire machine.
The is from our VM guy. Buddy Howeth Computer Operations Specialist Information Systems Pacific Coast Producers Corporate Offices 631 N. You've only described the "fullvm" backup option, and that's not what most people use, at least on Windows. The TSM default behaviour is actually to back up individual files from each guest (windows) to each node set up for that guest. Doing a restore only requires a guest to have TSM installed if you *want* to restore there. You could alternatively use the usual restore asnode (grant proxy) stuff, if you prefer - and that's what most of my VCB customers do. Hope that clarifies things a bit.
