No way around that. You would have to switch to NFS/CIFS backups (as opposed to NDMP) in order to restore without the Netapp. Maybe have a separate, short-retention CIFS backup just for DR purposes. We are going to be doing a DR in a couple of weeks and we do not have a NAS at our test site and will build a huge server to restore the data to. How will we restore to an alternate location if it is not a NAS box? I have looked at the restore options with TSM and it looks like it has to restore to a NAS. Thanks for any help you can provide.
