Thanks, Andy. I've done as you said and started the GUI. Interestingly, I've installed the TDP for SQL and, using the dsmcutil tool, a service for the BAClient and the SQL Server TDP. They both installed and contacted the server OK, so maybe I'll get backups even if I can't run the client tools locally.
Question: are dsmc and dsm java apps? Could that be the problem?
