That's not what the manual says Joe "The dirmc option specifies the management class you want to use for directories. If you do not specify this option to associate a management class with directories, the client program uses the management class in the active policy set of your policy domain with the longest retention period. It is recommended that you select a management class for individual directories that retains directories at least as long as it retains the files associated with them."
