dear all, we're running a bunch of Linux machines using a shared GPFS-SAN-volume and having all a shared DNS alias (done by round robin change).
I want to backup as well each machine with it's own IP name (as nodename) and the GPFS volume. my idea is to backup the GPFS volume using the DNS alias als nodename, so if one machine is down the backup can be done by one of the other, the backup should be initiated by a schedule. but I've no idea how to do :-( using the mmbackup tool actually i can only backup the GPFS, but not the "local" filesystems, _and_ i have to start it by cron instead of a schedule. using a standard schedule, the backup is not started because each node waits for it's "local" schedule only. any idea? i'm running TSM 5.3 on AIX. thanks & best regards, Bjørn -- ######################################################################## Dipl.-Ing.
