Kevin, Are you sure that someone hasn't set the mode to absolute in your backup copygroup? Some places run a weekly full by setting the mode to absolute via an admin schedule and then back to modified in another schedule. If yours does this could the "change back" have failed?

That isn't the case here - I only have three NetWare servers that are running in a cluster - the other 20 or so are standalone, and all are exhibiting the problem. -------------------------------- Kevin Kinder -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stapleton, Mark Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2008 2:15 PM To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Subject: Re: [ADSM-L] NetWare Client full backups running when incremental is selected From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kevin P. It looks as if every Netware server > that I have is doing this. Obviously, this is killing my disk and tape > storage space. This is happening on client versions from 5.2-5.4 Are your NetWare boxes running in a clustered environment? If so, you may have a situation where NetWare changes a file attribute on every file on every cluster disk that gets moved from one node to another. When the attribute gets changed, TSM sees it as a changed file and backs it up again. I ran across this issue a year or so ago at a customer site. I don't know the details (the NetWare admin was fiercely protective of his environment and wasn't forthcoming with help). If this is the case, the issue lay with NetWare, not TSM. -- Mark Stapleton Berbee (a CDW company) System engineer 7145 Boone Avenue North, Suite 140 Brooklyn Park MN 55428-1511 763-592-5963 www.berbee.com
