I don't know if you remember I had emailed the list a while ago about a audit. Well I guess the reason I was audited was because my software maintenance contract was ending soon. Anyways, I called our IBM representative because there were several items under software maintenance that we were not using anymore and we did not want to pay software maintenance on. To make a long story short, we ended up auditing the entire quote for which I sent him a list of servers, cpus, cores that we were backing up. He had a rep from Tivoli do an analysis and it turns out we had 13 servers that were not licensed to be backed up. Yesterday my IBM rep sent me a quote for the new licenses and I was quite shocked at the total. For 13 servers the total price was almost 39 thousand dollars. This is just the license to back the server up. That works out to about 3,000 per server. Does this seem right? Is this about what everyone else is paying? It just seems awfully high for a client backup license...
