Geoff -- Audit Library on a 3584 does NOT scan the tape barcodes -- it gets the library manager catalog that was created the last time the library initialized, with current updates from tape movement. If you want a re-scan you will need to re-initialize the library (pause it, then open and close a door).

Sent: Friday, June 22, 2007 1:37 AM To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Subject: tape loss need help Today I moved my TSM server to a new server. Everything seemed to go well, restored DB, brought back all drives and library, audit library and my script showed tapes were available as scratch. Tonight after things have kicked off I got a message no scratch tapes were available to mount when this afternoon there were 85 after I got the system back online. q libvol returns nothing private or scratch but q vol shows tapes. Tonight I tan the 3584 audit library but was way to quick if you ask me. I had decided to run it again and it looks like the devcnfg is empty of tapes whereas the one earlier showed everything. Now that nothing seems to be in the library according to TSM I'm at a loss as to how to get things back when the audit library seemed to work, but actually didn't. That think obviously isn't looking at barcodes or it would have found everything in the library if it was truly scanning. I'm pretty much dead in the water until I can get this fixed and would sure appreciate some insight if anyone has a suggestion.
