Hi, Reading the threat and missing something. Why another stg?
For normal backup data I like to use JBOD config. No read protection at all and maximum usable GB per disk. In order to minimize the number of storage pools needed, ITSM 5.3 has the collecation by group option. So, my 5.2 config is JBOD and more stg pools. My 5.3 config is less stg pools and collocation groups. Yes, in a world of infinite funding, we would all use RAID1 or RAID10 :-) Sadly I do not work in such an environment, so the choice was RAID1 and not enough disk pool to possibly hold a night's backups, or RAID5 with (barely) enough space...
