Richard, You should use DRM feature, which provides a nice way handling offsite volumes, and avoids the kind of problem you're facing : "move drm wherestate=mountable tostate=.... remove=untileefull". That command tells TSM to checkout the volumes having "mountable" status, until the I/O station is full. If some volumes are still to be checked out, re-isssue the command ! (search "move drm" in admin guide, if you're not familiar with that command) HTH.

Is there a way to determine if all the input/output slots in the bulk loader are full ? Presently I'm running TSM version 5.3.2.4. Under 5.1.x.x when one tried to checkout a volume and the bulk loader's input/output slots were full TSM would just put the volume in an empty library slot and "query libv" would not see it. One would have figure out that the volume did not eject, figure out what slot it was in, and then manually eject it via the LED screen on the library. I'm trying to avoid the above. Especially when a "fill in" person has to take care of the volume checkout process. Richard Hammersley
