Adrian - You'll find RLVs to be delightfully simple to implement, compared with TSM volumes in file systems. Collected nuances and details, based upon experience, can be found in topic Raw logical volume in http://people.bu.edu/rbs/ADSM.QuickFacts or the TSM Wiki. There are IBM Technotes, at least some of which are noted in the QuickFacts. The TSM Admin Guide and TSM Performance Tuning Guide should be the principal references, of course.
