Another disk operations group is using IBM TotalStorage DS6000 Storage Manager 5.0.5.281 and needed to remove it from the Win2003 server. After doing the removal the backup group found that the backups failed that evening. Turns out that the TSM 5.3 client, web client, scheduler and journal executables and support files all disappeared from the server. The services were still there but obviously no longer running. Has any one experiences this? Was there something that the disk operations group set or failed to set when they removed TotalStorage that took all TSM with it?
The good news is - we were able to easily install the TSM Client again and restore everything and backups work fine again without any additional configuration. Sooooo DiskAdmin - 0 BackupAdmin - 1.
