I also have used SDLT tapes for 2 year and they are still well, LTO tapes just were bought four month ago. I will check again to see whether drive is error.

What is hard-compression different from soft-compression ? In my opinion, when using hard compression, tape stores more data because data is written on tape closely . I use hard compression (no compresss from client) so I think it is only related to hardware. and capacity of tape is similar ? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Granhagen Anders" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU> Sent: Tuesday, July 05, 2005 3:16 PM Subject: SV: LTO2 is unconfident Read/Write errors happens to all tape technologies, in my experience less frequently on LTO than many others. If you experience a lot of errors on your tapes, fist make sure that you clean your tape drives frequently, then see if you can relate the errors to any specific tape drive. If you can, and you continue to see problems, contact your vendor for support. The capacity of your tapes are related to your compression-rate. Since all data is not the same, you'll see different rates for different kinds of data. For instance, you might see very high compression rates for some databases, and low/none compression rates for already compressed data like jpeg-images, mpeg movies, zip/rar/lz compressed files etc. Regards, ___________________________________ Anders Granhagen Atea System Platforms (Phone: +46 8 4708104 (Mobile: +46 709 197218 -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Fren: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Fvr nghiatd Skickat: den 5 juli 2005 09:02 Till: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Dmne: LTO2 is unconfident Hi, I use 4560SLX with two LTO gen2 drives, I have 30 tape LTO2.
