Thank you for your reply. I have ran some test and this is what is happening, any thoughts anyone has on this would be extreemly helpful. Client 1 Aix 4.3.3 TSM version 5.1.6.7 (highest supported on 4.3.3)
Client 2 AIX 5.1 TSM 5.2.1.1 Server TSM 5.2.1.1 AIX 5.1 Test 1 Backup file with encryptionkey prompt on client 1 Restore to client 2 with prompt for key Test 2 Backup same file after touching on client 1 as virtualnode client3 encryptionkey save Restore to client2 no prompt Test3 Backup same file after touching on client1 as virtualnode client3 encryptionkey prompt Restore to client2 with prompt for key Test 4 Backup same file as client1 with encryptionkey save Restore to client 2 with no prompt for key. Now my problem is the following. I am assuming on all of them the file was encrypted as in the inclexcl list I have include.encrypt *. But how can I confirm that? Is this acting as it should? -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stapleton, Mark Sent: Monday, June 27, 2005 10:36 AM To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Subject: Re: Encryption Confirmation Try restoring an encrypted file to an alternate TSM client. -- Mark Stapleton ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) IBM Certified Advanced Deployment Professional Tivoli Storage Management Solutions 2005 IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert (CATE) AIX Office 262.521.5627 >-----Original Message----- >From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf >Of Meadows, Andrew >Sent: Monday, June 27, 2005 10:35 AM >To: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU >Subject: Encryption Confirmation > >This may have been covered previously but if it has I could not find >it. > >Other than blind faith in the fact that you have the include/exclude >list set up correctly and the encryptionkey save set up correctly is >there a way to confirm that the files are actually being encrypted? >If this is a stupid question I apoligize, I just could not find a way >to show my CIO that yes these files are being encrypted and heres the >proof. >Thanks in advance, >Andrew >******************************************** >This message is intended only for the use of the Addressee and may >contain information that is PRIVILEGED and CONFIDENTIAL. > >If you are not the intended recipient, you are hereby notified that any >dissemination of this communication is strictly prohibited. > >If you have received this communication in error, please erase all >copies of the message and its attachments and notify us immediately. > >Thank you. >******************************************** > ******************************************** This message is intended only for the use of the Addressee and may contain information that is PRIVILEGED and CONFIDENTIAL.
