Shannon - Yes that's also set at 5.
This only appears to have happened since the install of 5.3 client.
Maybe I'll rollback to 5.1.5 and see what happens.

Troy,
we have 15 drives in a 3494, so I don't believe it's a lack of drives.
The server has an ADMIN volume in addition to Vol1 and SYS, however we only
backup Vol1 and SYS.
The resourceutilization setting is interesting - I'll reset it to 4 (we
used to have it at 3 - I only changed it to try and rectify this problem).

How many volumes does the server have, and how many of them are supposed to
be getting backed up?
If you only have sys: and vol1:, there's not that much benefit to getting
multiple backup sessions anyway.
A somewhat related question would be how many tape drives does your tsm
server have?
As a side-note, I've noticed that many of our netware servers here get
flaky if you specify a resourceutilization of 4 or more.
It occassionally causes locks/hangs either in the backup agent itself, or
sometimes the entire server. It doesn't usually
make sense to set resourceutilization > number of tape drives anyway.

Troy - it's set to 5 - I looked into that and tried changing it to various
values - it appears to work sometimes but not others - bizzare.

Hi Guys,
I've just installed ver 5.3 of the Netware client and am having problems
getting it run using more than one session when run from a schedule via
dsmcad.
Server is at 5.2.3.3 on AIX 5.2
Just wondered if anyone else had had an issue with this, or had any ideas
