If you run a q mount and don't see the tape mounted and you run a q vol f=d and
the access mode is still set to readw then TSM should be fine and there is
nothing more you have to do. Sometimes when a tape fails to dismount from a
drive the volume will go "unavailable" in TSM. You change that by running
update vol volname acc=readw.

within TSM? The TSM 5.2.2.5 server is AIX 5.2 and it has an STK SL8500
