I have not heard this, and it isn't true. :-)

This also should not be the case. Of course, providing a copy of the
options file and the actual output you are seeing would help.
There is one specific case that might explain what you are seeing:
instrumentation.
If in fact you are attempting to use the TSM client's built-in
instrumentation, then you should go to www.ibm.com and search on the
following criteria:
+tsm +testflag +instrument +instr_client_detail
(you will need to be registered to view the articles. But in short, the
INSTR_CLIENT_DETAIL trace flag has been replaced by the INSTRUMENT:DETAIL
test flag.)
