I thought I heard that in the TSM 5.3 versions would be the true incremental of some of the System Object components....but you need to find out what's growing your DB.
Couple things....First search back as far as you need (or can) in the server activity log for ANE4954I messages. This is the number of objects backed up. Look for a node(s) that seem to have a very high number of objects being backed up each night. Or a node that has increased recently. Then look at the occupancy data to see which node(s) have a large number of objects in TSM. select node_name,sum(num_files) from occupancy group by node_name order by 2 See if anything sticks out.. If not, then each day after backups and expiration capture the occupancy data for each node and plot it for trending. But I have a TSM server that is 5.2.3.1 and the administrator is complaining about DB growth. At this point I am asusming W2K System Object backups. I don't think updating the client version will impact how the TSM server will handle System Objects.. -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Prather, Wanda Sent: Wednesday, December 01, 2004 10:21 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: W2K System Objects and TSM server 5.2.3.1 I thought the relief in System Object backups (that TSM will not back up the files that haven't changed) was supposed to come with Win2K3 and XP, not Win2K? (But then, I'm easily confused...) -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Adams, Matt (US - Hermitage) Sent: Wednesday, December 01, 2004 11:08 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: W2K System Objects and TSM server 5.2.3.1 Just wondering if anyone in the group is seeing any relief or is the impact about the same in relation to the TSM DB and W2K System Objects. Running TSM server version 5.2.3.1 on AIX 5.2 Client version 5.2.0.3.
