Ran into this before, too. What I did to get out of it was: def lib man1 libt=manual upd devc <device types for 3583 library> library=man1
del paths to all the drives Delete drives from 3583 library del path to library del library redefine 3583 library, path, drives and paths upd devc <....> library=<3583 library> checkin your tapes. First do SEARCH=YES STATUS=SCR, the STATUS=PRI. del library man1 Everytime I tried to update the library with the new serial or to just remove the serial TSM wouldn't let me....so I just recreated it. By pointing your devclasses to the manual library defined, you can delete your old library definition without effecting your storage pools. -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Mike Bantz Sent: Monday, November 01, 2004 9:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Unable to bring 3583 back online Sorry 'bout that. Win2k server, TSM 5.2.0.2 Device manager shows everything: library and both LTO drives. I believe that this is a problem with the serial number of the library. One of the main cards got swapped (since it died) and TSM will not update to allow the usage of this "new" library. I'll open a ticket, too... Thanks! -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stapleton, Mark Sent: Friday, October 29, 2004 6:34 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Unable to bring 3583 back online From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mike Bantz >When I boot everything up, the drives are unavailable and I'm not able >to update them - it says that the 3583 is unavailable. Details, you need to supply details. If the TSM server is Windows-based, look at the device manager to see if the library and the tape drives are visible and online. If it's AIX-based, see if the tape drives and library are available (as opposed to defined). Failing that, you need to contact Tivoli support and open a ticket. -- Mark Stapleton ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Berbee Information Networks Office 262.521.5627
