I have checked the ulimits for root, they are all unlimited.

..Interesting about the AIX problem.. I didn't see it earlier as IBM's
login was hanging on me ... We do have the fixes mentioned installed, -
I will try umount/mounting the filesystem and running the restore once
the 'restore a thousand, copy 'em out'  game has finished...

Matt - Do 'ulimit -a' in the process C shell (or equivalent command in
another shell)
       to fully assure that your virtual storage is unlimited, as you
believe.

If system virtual storage were actually exhausted, you'd be seeing a lot
of surrounding
AIX processes being blown away, as reflected in the pacct file and Error
Log.  I don't
think you're seeing that.

Go to www.ibm.com and search on that message number.  You'll come upon
an interesting
AIX situation as well.
