fyi: My expiration process runs as follows each night:
ANR0984I Process 469 for EXPIRE INVENTORY started in the FOREGROUND at 01:00:05. ANR0811I Inventory client file expiration started as process 469. ANR0812I Inventory file expiration process 469 completed: examined 2112468 objects, deleting 1480418 backup objects, 7172 archive objects, 0 DB backup volumes, and 0 recovery plan files. 0 errors were encountered. ANR0987I Process 469 for EXPIRE INVENTORY running in the FOREGROUND processed 1487590 items with a completion state of SUCCESS at 03:39:38. My cache hit % varies from 98.x to 99.x as well. We are getting very good throughput with our expire inventory each night. Well... Bruce's expiration is about 70 objects per second, which is comparable with mine, but that's not normal, unlike you stated. According to an IBM support document (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21141810) one should be able to expire 1055 objects per second!
