Hi Josef, I just spoke with our informix admin, who was in the surroundings as I received your mail, and he assured me there would be no problem doing this : both programs have their own way to check when to initiate backups, and no one will "steal" the other logs ! Hope this helped ! Cheers.

Is it safe to use two different backup tools independently to backup Informix data? I have Informix server, which was backed up using Ontape. Recently we implemented TDP for Informix and started to use onbar. But Informix admin still wants (at least for some time ) to use also Ontape. I am not sure how these backup utilities manage Informix logs. Isn't it possible that Ontape during its backup will backup also some logs which will not then be backed up by onbar (will be marked as archived)? Is it possible that later restore using onbar will not be done correctly because of this? My version of Informix is 7.31UC3 Thanks Ing. Jozef Zatko Login a.s. Dlha 2, Stupava tel.: (421) (2) 60252618
