The observation regarding reclamation of offsite tapes in which are parcially full has caused me to handle offsite volumes as follows.
Keep the reclaim value set at 100%. Check every few days for number of tapes reclamable at around 90%. When this reaches the point at which I can reclaim 20 to 30 volumes only using a couple of scratches, I set the reclaim down and let it go. Saves a lot of tape shuffling.
