This isn't exactly a solution but I have the very same problem as yourself in finding the best way of doing this, and as you have pointed out, there is no easy way that we have found. It is lookin very much like we will have to make our TSM service unavailable for a "long-weekend" to be able to carry out the snapshots.
How have you got on with your snapshot Mark? Have you found any gotchas worth sharing? Has anyone else had to overcome this issue and found a less disruptive way of doing it?
